Sightseeing Spots

The Kita Kyushu Manga Museum is located a 3-minute walk from JR Ogura Station's Shinkansen Exit, walking straight across the walking bridge. Administered by the City of Kita-Kyushu, this museum is exclusively dedicated to manga. With some 50,000 volumes of manga, including everything from old classics to newer hits, it's the perfect spot for manga lovers to stop by. In fact, there are a number of manga artists who hail from Kitakyushu City (Matsumoto Leiji, Watase Seizo, Hatanaka Jun, Hojo Tsukasa, and more), and this museum was made with the intent to preserve the cultural artifacts they've created, and to ensure them a future. Because of this goal, visitors can not only read manga, but visit our Sommelier Corner for some manga-related advice, visit exhibitions about the development of manga culture, and even enjoy some cultural exchange in our manga classroom, and see the original sketches from some famous manga in special exhibitions. (Entrance fees will be required separately) Our most special events will be introduced on our blog, so please be sure to have a look before you head out!
