Dining
Connect with the land through its cuisine
Relish in the delectable flavors of your travels
Otani Sanso's culinary philosophy is based on three principles of local cooking, namely, local ingredients, local methods, and local dishes.
We believe that food that is cultivated from the local land, prepared with local culinary traditions, and eaten locally is the most delicious.
Each month, we offer a different "kuikiri kaiseki" course menu prepared with local Nagato ingredients.
Come and savor the flavors of Nagato, right where they come from.
Onsen & Spa Services
Release your mind,
embraced by the gentle country breezes,
and the soft babbling of the Otozure River
The hot springs of Nagato Yumoto Onsen have been flowing since 1427, in the Muromachi Period.
Take in the scent of the trees carried on the breeze, the sound of flowing water, and soft birdsong.
The large public bath looks out over the flowing waters of the Otozure River, creating a view reminiscient of traditional Japanese "sansui" landscape paintings.
Immerse yourself in the soothing embrace of the soft, alkaline waters, known as a "family bath," because they are gentle enough for those of all ages, from babies to the elderly.
Explore the Facilities
Delight in finding your own favorite place
amongst a variety of public spaces
Otani Sanso is also home to a variety of wonderful public spaces, all rooted in the story of this region, from the river terraces overlooking the Otozure River, to the astronomical observatory dome born from the poems of local nursery rhyme author Misuzu Kaneko; to the collection of hagi-yaki pottery in the Fukawa Kiln Gallery, rare even in this prefecture; to the bakery shop where our local bakers work hard to produce delicious bread.
