Spot4 Nagato Ichinomiya Sumiyoshi-jinja Shrine (National Treasure)

Built by the shogun Hiroyo Ouchi in 1370, this shrine's main hall with its cypress bark thatching has been designated a National Treasure. Unlike Osaka's Sumiyoshi-jinja Shrine, Nagato Ichinomiya enshrines the three sumiyoshi deities (Sokotsutsu-no-O-no-Mikoto, Nakatsutsu-no-O-no-Mikoto, and Uwatsutsu-no-O-no-Mikoto) together in one building, where their "aramitama," or spirities are enshrined.

The shrine's main building is built in the Sumiyoshi-zukuri style, and has been certified as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
